Obv: Turreted head of Tyche right, palm over shoulder.
Rev: Poseidon seated left on prow with figurehead of Athena Promachos, holding wreath and trident. Aradian era date in exergue. Phoenician letters to right.

Arados (Arwad) var en af de vigtigste fønikiske bystater, beliggende på en lille befæstet ø ud for Syrienkysten. Its powerful fleet and strategic position made it important to Mediterranean trade and Persian naval power. Under Achaemenid rule it retained its own kings and coinage, later submitting peacefully to Alexander the Great in 332 BC and contributing ships to his campaign against Tyre.
