Atlantic Worldmaster Two-Tone Bull’s-Eye Dial – 1950–1959
A highly charismatic vintage Atlantic Worldmaster from the 1950s, distinguished by its beautiful original two-tone bull’s-eye dial and generous 36 mm stainless steel case.
The naturally aged silver centre is surrounded by a contrasting deep-blue hour ring, while the red central seconds hand provides a striking touch of colour. Condition Report
The watch is presented in Grade B vintage condition, showing visible signs of use and ageing appropriate to a timepiece from the 1950s.
The stainless steel case and case back display scratches, small marks and surface wear from previous use. The lugs and round case profile retain their attractive period shape, while the 36 mm dimensions provide a particularly appealing wrist presence for a watch of this age.
The beautiful original dial is the main attraction of this example. Its silver-toned centre has developed a strong natural patina with spotting, tonal variation and discoloration, surrounded by a contrasting dark-blue bull’s-eye ring. The Arabic numerals and hands also show visible ageing, while the red central seconds hand adds a particularly attractive vintage accent.
The acrylic glass presents signs of use and may be polished or replaced by a watchmaker if desired. The watch is fitted with a generic blue leather strap suitable for a wrist of up to approximately 21 cm.
Water resistance has not been tested and cannot be guaranteed. Despite the wording found on the case back, the watch should be kept away from water and moisture.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and provide the best representation of the watch’s condition.
Story & Heritage
Atlantic is a historic Swiss watchmaker known for producing robust and practical mechanical watches with distinctive styling. The Worldmaster became one of the company’s best-recognized lines, combining reliable Swiss movements with excellent legibility and a strong everyday character.
During the 1950s, contrasting bull’s-eye dials were valued not only for their visual appeal but also for their functionality. The concentric colour arrangement naturally directed the eye toward the hour markers and hands, allowing the time to be read quickly and clearly. This design language was closely associated with military, travel and sporting watches of the period.
This example preserves that character beautifully. Its original silver and blue dial has developed a rich natural patina that records more than seven decades of history, while the 21-jewel mechanical movement and Incabloc shock protection reflect the practical engineering expected from a quality Swiss wristwatch.
At approximately 36 mm, the case was generously proportioned for its era and remains extremely wearable today. With its unusual two-tone dial, red seconds hand and authentic signs of age, this Atlantic Worldmaster is not simply a vintage watch—it is a wonderfully expressive survivor from the golden age of Swiss mechanical watchmaking.
