Fine Antique French Solid Silver Wax Seal Desk Stamp – Blank Matrix
An elegant and finely crafted French antique solid silver wax seal desk stamp, dating from the late 19th Century (circa 1880–1900).
The handle is beautifully embellished in an ornate Eclectic/Neo-Rococo style, featuring embossed floral motifs, delicate foliage scrollwork, and an elegant central cartouche.
A highly desirable feature for collectors, the oval matrix base remains completely blank (vacant). This makes the piece fully functional and ideal for future personalization, allowing the new owner to engrave their custom initials, family crest, or monogram.
The piece is fully authenticated by official French hallmark punches located on the outer rim of the base plate:
• The Boar's Head Hallmark (Poinçon Tête de Sanglier): The official French assay guarantee mark used in Paris to certify solid silver with a minimum purity of .800/1000 fineness.
• Silversmith / Maker's Mark: Stamped within the mandatory French diamond lozenge (losange) frame.
An original red wax test impression is included with the item to demonstrate the clean, crisp edge profile of the stamp.
Dimension: 8cm
Weight: 7,2g
Condition Report
Excellent Antique Condition. This item shows light, genuine surface wear and a soft, beautiful age-appropriate patina consistent with historical handling. The silver structural details remain crisp, sharp, and well-defined. The matrix plate is smooth, completely flat, and free of any deep scratches or previous engravings.
