A magnificent large and rare wucai Transition jardiniere, in a classical bulbous shape with a central decoration of Two fully drawn phoenix in flight surrounded with Blossoming Peonies. Executed in a nice and soft underglaze blue(!), topped with yellow(!!) and green enamels and topped with overglaze iron red. In the border a classical decoration of a very intricate fire patterns and double circles. The foot is nicely trimmed and unglazed, showing age and material.
Handcrafted in ancient imperial China during the transition period between the Ming and Qing dynasty, during the early Shunzhi period (1644-1662), ca. 1650. Guaranteed original and of the stated period.
A good size, good height and perfect shape.
From an important noble Dutch private collection, collected between the 1920's and 1940's.
Diameter: 24,5 centimeter
Condition: This object is in overall good condition, small glaze bites and a hairline on the bottom deriving from a baking imperfection. The condition is carefully checked with strong UV-light and bright translucent white light.
