The map offers an elaborate portrayal of this mythical Christian kingdom, accompanied by an extensive German text panel on the left that traces Prester John’s lineage back to the ancient Kings of Israel and describes how his descendants were believed to have settled in Abyssinia, now modern day Ethiopia.
