Rebel forces, including key historical figures such as Saigō Takamori and Kirino Toshiaki, are shown withdrawing from battle. The print vividly captures the tension and drama of this pivotal episode in Meiji history, with Chikanobu’s dynamic composition, meticulous detailing of costumes and banners, and bold use of colour. Publisher: Signed by Yōshū Chikanobu and published by Yamamoto Rihei. Condition: Signs of age including stains, some wormholes, numerous creases, fading, and areas where the paper has thinned.
