DESCRIPTION: Producer: Manzone Giovanni Wine: Barolo DOCG "Bricat" Vintage: 2018 Number of Bottles: 6 Size: 0,75 Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo Aging: 36 Months in oak barrels of different sizes Alc.: 14.50% The grapes come from a single vineyard in the Gramolere Additional Geographical Indication (MGA) in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. The original core consists of vines over 50 years old, and a small portion of these Nebbiolo vines are of the ancient Rosé subvariety, giving the Barolo Bricat DOCG its finesse and class. The southwest exposure, and the sandy, calcareous soil with layers of red clay, lends a distinctive character to the production of these vines. The steep slope of the hill makes manual work essential. The grapes are harvested by hand in mid- to late-October to ensure the noble ripeness of the skins and seeds. They then undergo spontaneous fermentation and slow maceration for 30-40 days, which avoids hastening the polyphenolic extraction, allowing it to occur as delicately as possible, thanks to the gentle spraying of the cap. After approximately three years of barrel aging and several months of rest in concrete vats, the wine is bottled during the waning moon. The vineyard and Ciabot Bricat were purchased by the Azienda Agricola Manzone Giovanni in 1989, and the first vintage produced was 1994. Barolo Bricat is released to the market approximately five years after the harvest, with a limited production of a few thousand bottles.
