Ikon - St. St. Adrian og Natalia - Russisk håndmalet ikon - Træ
Saints Adrian and Natalia lived in Nicodemus during the reign of the Roman Emperor Maximian, mentioned in history as a cruel persecutor of Christians.
Adrian was one of the emperor's close people, a member of the praetorian guard, a noble and wealthy man, and also a pagan. Witnessing the cruel torture of Christians, Adrian understood the divine truth. He stood in the midst of the praetorian guard and told the scribes who were writing down the names of Christians sentenced to death to write down his name, because he too believed in Christ and gladly wanted to die for him. The emperor subjected Adrian to cruel torture, trying to make him renounce his new religion.
Adrian's wife: Natalia, was a Christian. Natalia remained by her husband's side to the end, never ceasing to support and encourage him amid the tortures to which he was subjected because of his faith in Christ. She spent her time with Adrian in prison, serving the martyrs, washing their wounds.
Adrian did not renounce his faith and left this world as a Christian. Soon after the death of her husband, Natalia passed away at his grave. She was counted by the Church among the martyrs because she served Christians with love.
