Today for auction House of Fabergé/ Franklin Mint "The Imperial Jewelled Egg Chess Set". This beautiful item was created to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Peter Carl Faberge's birth. It's painted in rich enamels and accented with gold, silver and sparkling stones. Under the dome is a miniature chessboard. 32 chess pieces are kept in a drawer in the base. One set is 24 karat gold plated and second is silver plated. At the top is The King-shaped decoration which when lifted provides a set of tweezers to use in setting up and moving the chess pieces.
