Designed in the late 1960s by the Dutch designer Friso Kramer for Wilkhahn. I restored this bench thoroughly without altering any of its original features—cleaning it carefully and polishing both the aluminium frame and the seat surface. No repairs or modifications were made. The bench is in exceptional condition. The model gained particular recognition when it was used at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games in a striking orange version, which helped establish it as a design icon of its era. It forms part of a modular bench system originally developed for waiting and transit areas in public spaces, and was used for many years in train stations, airports, and similar facilities. The 1200 model is characterised by its linear, functional design that combines the aesthetic principles of post-war modernism with everyday durability. Its seat shell is made of glass-fibre-reinforced polyester, resting on a lightweight yet robust aluminium frame. Today, the model is considered a sought-after collector’s piece, appreciated for its clear formal language and industrial materiality, making it a lasting and design-relevant object in both private and public interiors.
