Glyptodon - Fossilt fragment
Glyptodon Carapace Osteoderms – 4 Fossil Fragments
Four original fossilized carapace fragments from a Glyptodon, a large armored mammal from the South American Pleistocene. These osteoderms were found in the Soriano Department, Uruguay, an area known for its Pleistocene alluvial deposits along the banks of the San Salvador River, near the town of Dolores.
The pieces display the characteristic morphology of glyptodont carapaces: distinct polygonal tubercles, compact bone texture, and mineralization consistent with fossils from this region. Suitable for amateur paleontological study, teaching collections, or as natural decorative pieces.
