A large and powerful heavy-duty chopper / hand axe, made from dense jasper–chalcedony with a warm brown patina typical of long-term geological exposure. One side shows a clearly defined working edge, created by a sequence of intentional flake removals. The piece displays negative scars, ripple marks and a preserved striking platform, all indicative of controlled knapping. The opposite side contains a naturally shaped ergonomic grip, fitting comfortably in the hand – characteristic for early handheld chopping tools used in processing wood, bone and organic material. Variation in patina suggests older and younger removals, consistent with long-term use and possible reworking in early prehistory. The tool is complete, stable and visually impressive. No export licence is required for this item. The object originates from a private land find in the Netherlands and is part of my own private collection.
