A real vintage ship's wheel made in the USSR - 1940-1960. The wheel is completely original, taken from an old Soviet ship in one of the ports of Odessa. Unfortunately, I was unable to find out the exact type of ship from which it was taken, but I assume that this is a wheel from a port tug, a small sea fishing vessel, a yacht, or a small cargo or merchant vessel, this wheel has nothing to do with warships. The wheel is made of wood (8 spokes for steering the ship), which is reinforced with bronze rings on both sides, in the middle there is a bronze hub that simultaneously fixes all 8 wooden spokes and is also an element for fixing the steel rod, which directly transmits the force of the wheel to the steering mechanism. The steering wheel has a function of changing from vertical to horizontal position of one spoke for more convenient steering of the floating vehicle, this function allows the helmsman to effectively and quickly change the course of the ship even with one hand, shown in the photo! The steering wheel is in excellent condition, but there are minor traces of time on the wooden part of the steering wheel, also one original bolt and nut are missing, shown everything in the last photo, please pay attention to this!!!
