An outstanding, antique wooden katana’dansu 刀箪笥 (sword cabinet) crafted in a single section with a rare configuration. Fully restored, cleaned, and waxed.
Constructed from indigenous sugi 杉 (Japanese cedar) wood, finished in a dark red lacquer displaying a beautifully aged patina. The cabinet is fitted with four full-width drawers, each with iron warabite-shaped bail handles,
Period: Japan – Late Edo period (first half 19th century).

Drawer interior width: 104.7 cm
In very good restored condition, with minimal traces consistent with age and a rich natural patina. No keys included. Please refer to the photos for a clear condition reference.
Traditionally, katana’dansu were used to store sword blades within their long drawers, particularly by sword polishers.
