井出岳水 Ide Gakusui (1899-1978) Printmaker from the Taisho and Showa periods. Born in Funatsu-cho, Yamanashi Prefecture in 1897. After graduating from Nihon University College of Art, studied under Yamauchi Tamon and then Arai Kanpo. Specialised in flower-and-bird paintings. with signature and seal 'Gakusui' 岳水 This elegant hanging scroll presents a vibrant composition of seasonal flowers—peony, white plum, iris, and chrysanthemum—each symbolizing a different time of year in Japanese tradition. The delicate brushwork and harmonious color palette reflect a refined sensibility rooted in classical kacho-ga (flower-and-bird painting).
