BEATRIX ROYAL OF THE NETHERLANDS
WILLEM-ALEXANDER PRINS VAN ORANJE
General Description: Damage
Irregularities resulting from die wear – the coin shows dents in the metal in the form of longitudinal lines. During minting, coins are subjected to high dynamic stresses, sometimes resulting in damage in the form of cracks or even chipping. Friction between the surfaces of the dies and the coin blank gradually wears away the dies. Contrary to popular belief, mint defects are highly coveted by collectors, as their uniqueness makes them interesting and often very valuable due to their rarity and exceptionality.

The image of the royal couple is distorted, and their facial features and profile are barely visible.
Additionally, four wide and deep inner grooves, each ending in a distinctive triangle, run through the center and outer ring of the coin, deeply embedded in the coin. All these grooves and crevices were created during the movement of the die and the minting process under enormous pressure. This coin has an interesting and unique, very rare and unusual, form of destruction.
