The black dial’s luminescent Chromalight display is an innovation that improved visibility in dark environments, an essential feature for divers.

Hour markers in simple shapes – triangles, circles, rectangles – and broad hour and minute hands enable instant and reliable reading to prevent any risk of confusion underwater.

The 60-minute graduated, unidirectional rotatable bezel of the Rolex Deepsea enables divers to precisely and safely monitor their dive and decompression times.

It is equipped with a patented black Cerachrom bezel insert manufactured by Rolex in a virtually scratchproof ceramic whose colour is unaffected by ultraviolet rays. The graduation is coated via PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) with a thin layer of platinum. The sleek black dial features large Chromalight hour markers and hands, filled with luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow for excellent legibility in dark conditions.

Rolex has recently released a new model of the Deepsea product line, and they have given this new timepiece the model number 136660. Normally, Rolex tends to update their watch lines every ten years, but the last time a Rolex Deepsea was released, was in 2018, so this announcement (in 2022) came as a surprise to many in the horological community.

The 2022 Rolex 136660 also features many of the same amenities as the ref. 126660, such as a Cerachrom ceramic bezel, 904L-grade Oystersteel, and the ultra-precise caliber 3235 Perpetual movement.
