Second edition, revised and augmented, twenty-fifth thousand.
Thick octavo, pp xvi, 693, a little age-toning throughout, a stain to the top of the fore-edge only just affecting the pages internally apart from page 66 (see illustrations,), with 78 smaller text engravings, a slight stain to the lower inner margins of the first few pages (see illustration of title page), the last two pages of the index rather browned and marked, otherwise all very firm internally.
In full dark green polished calf, by Bumpus of Oxford Street, London, inner dentelles gilt, slightly rubbed and scuffed, the front joint very slightly cracking, marbled edges to pages, marbled endpapers at the front, but the rear endpapers have been replaced with pale green ones.
