Casisano Brunello di Montalcino 2017 DESCRIPTION: Producer: Casisano Wine: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Vintage: 2017 Number of Bottles: 6 Size:0,75 Grapes: 100% Sangiovese Aging: at least 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels Alc.: 14,5% The Tommasi family reclaimed Podere Casisano in 2015 and has dedicated all its esteemed rights to Brunello di Montalcino in this blessed corner of Tuscany. Each vintage is interpreted by selecting grapes from different parcels, aiming to authentically express the terroir and create a red capable of continually evolving. Casisano's Brunello di Montalcino is made from Sangiovese Grosso grapes grown on plots specifically planted within the estate's vineyard. The Brunello parcels extend over 9 hectares, characterized by the unique soil formation of Montalcino: a matrix composed of sandstone and marl is largely covered by a rocky underlayer, composed primarily of galestro. Some of the unique characteristics of volcanic soils, such as the presence of tuff, are also present, due to the proximity of Mount Amiata, an ancient extinct volcano and a place of worship for the ancient Etruscans. The terroir is located in the southeastern part of the Montalcino hillside, at a relatively high altitude of 480 meters above sea level, offering constant breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea and significant temperature variations. The individual parcels are vinified separately, following traditional practices: long maceration of the must on the skins and alcoholic fermentation lasting 25 days in stainless steel tanks. The maturation process is also lengthy, lasting 36 months in large Slavonian barrels, followed by final blending. A final six-month aging in bottle completes the wine's winemaking process. The Brunello di Montalcino produced by Casisano is a deep ruby ​​red, with garnet hues. The aromas reveal distinctive varietal fruit and spice notes, where red berries meet citrus zest and hints of black pepper and cinnamon. Tertiary hints of tobacco introduce an elegant and well-structured palate, composed of well-present and ripe tannins and a lively freshness accompanied by a very fine mineral trail. A classic, high-quality Brunello for the table, paired with game and venison.
