GAO GUENIE, complete piece with Regmaglyphs and Fusion crust Meteorite Chondrite H5, - 40 g
Great H5 type meteorite due to its high iron content
It fell on March 5, 1960. The fall consisted of a large number of fragments and one of the largest meteor showers ever observed in Africa.
Three explosions were heard in the sky and many stones began to fall over an area of 70 km². Locals reported damaged buildings and the explosions were heard up to 100 km away. Fortunately, none of the inhabitants were injured.
Regmaglyphs can be observed. Regmaglyphs are produced by the air shaping the hot surface of the meteorite.
You can also see the fusion crust caused by the high temperatures reached when entering the atmosphere, temperatures that reach 7000ºC and this is the reason why spacecraft are fitted with a protective heat shield.
