Daum - Dish - Snail on Vine Leaf - Glass - Daum Pâte de Verre Dish
Date: ca. 1970s
A wonderful little dish in ‘pâte de verre’ (glass paste) by Daum representing a curled vine leaf with a snail. This dish with its intermingled greens and browns is a wonderful example of the complex glass paste technique that was mastered by Daum. The tiny little bubbles in the mass and the more opaque translucency are the identifying characteristics of glass paste (many pieces often labeled as ‘pate de verre’ are in fact acid etched surfaces; for example, E. Gallé never ever made ‘pâte de verre’!). The base has the engraved signature ‘Daum France’.
