Sophie’s love of glass and ceramics began when she was a child, watching the play of light and colour on her grandmother’s own collection of ceramics. As she grew up, her appreciation for beautiful objects only deepened. She went on to earn a Masters in Art History from the École du Louvre in Paris as well as achieving her auctioneer’s certification. Enamoured with the thought that she could use her knowledge of art history and technique to trace the origins of an object, Sophie set her sights on becoming an expert. She was soon employed by the prestigious auction house Sotheby’s in Paris, and later specialised in Scandinavian glass while developing a strong interest in French glass and ceramics. Fluent in Arabic, English, French and German, Sophie joined Catawiki in 2021 and is excited to make new discoveries in the French market, share her broad knowledge of art history and ensure that buyers and sellers enjoy their experience on Catawiki.
