The photographer:
Of Ukrainian origin, Ruslan Lobabov is one of the most influential photographers in Eastern Europe. Born in 1979, he specializes in portraits and female nudes in black and white, his mentor is the nonconformist artist Helmut Newton, initiator of what he called "porno chic". He draws his inspiration from cinema and fashion, creating erotic shots where the bodies of sensual women are shamelessly exhibited under his sharp eye. The models thus represent a certain form of feminine freedom immersed in the atmosphere of the 60s, shaking up the established codes. Each image of Ruslan Lobanov is a magnificent nude and the staging that accompanies it is very sophisticated, his works have earned the photographer remarkable collaborations with Playboy magazine and the L'Oréal group.
Photography:
Each image by Ruslan Lobanov is a nude and the staging that accompanies it is very sophisticated. His mentor, the nonconformist artist Helmut Newton, initiator of what has been called "porno chic" in photography, said: "Nothing is more revealing than nudity, even when dressed". Exploiting a clever mix of nonchalance and seduction, this quote applies perfectly to the photographer's singular work. Dressed in light clothing or partially undressed, his models adopt daring poses that connote them as confident and dominant femme fatales. They show themselves in public places while maintaining a natural air.
Through the use of black and white, under perfectly controlled lighting that recreates the atmospheres of the 1960s, these cinematographic images have an underlying narrative dimension. Despite the provocative nature of his work, Ruslan Lobanov defends a symbol, that of beauty and freedom.
