Bowmore Vault Edition No.1 & No.2 - 700ml - 2 bottles

Bowmore vault Edition #01 Vault Edition will be a series of four bottlings to celebrate Bowmore’s legendary No. 1 Vault. This first release is nicknamed “Atlantic Sea Salt”. The whisky was matured entirely in bourbon casks from this warehouse located by the sea. It was bottled in a limited edition in 2016 at a high strength of 51.5% ABV. The whisky is not chill-filtered and has its natural colour. The character of the whisky is largely determined by the maturation in the extreme proximity of the sea. Bowmore vaul edition #02 Bowmore Vault Edition second Release is the second release in the Vault Edition Series. This expression is composed from hand-picked casks that mature in the famous No.1 Vaults warehouse. The second Vault Edition from Bowmore brings a perfect balance between smoke, maritime influences and sweetness. In order to express the character as well as possible, the whisky was chosen to be bottled at a relatively high alcohol percentage (50.1%). The nose of the Bowmore Vault Edition No.2 is rich in peat, sweetness, notes of leather and spices. In the background there are light floral hints and a hint of mint. The taste opens with sweet sherry layers and juicy fruits, after which this develops into notes of charcoal, ash and smoke. The finish is sweet, creamy and has a mineral hint. About Bowmore: The Bowmore distillery is located in the town of the same name on the island of Islay. This is the capital of the island and is situated on the sea arm Loch Indaal. Bowmore comes from the Gaelic and "Bow" means bay and "More" large. The meaning therefore refers to the large bay Loch Indaal where Bowmore is situated. The Bowmore distillery was built in 1779 by David Simpson and is the oldest distillery on the island. After many takeovers, Morrison Bowmore Ltd. came into the hands of the Japanese whisky company Suntory in 1994, which owns 100% of the distillery. In the stillhouse of Bowmore there are two wash stills and two spirit stills, all heated by steam. The six washbacks are made of Oregon pine and are in a single row. Above the washbacks there are signs mounted with the names of the owners and the years that they were owners of Bowmore. Bowmore still uses three malting floors, which account for around 30% of the malt used, with the remainder coming from the Port Ellen malthouse. Bowmore matures its delicate whiskies in the company's famous vaults. These are located below sea level, which means ideal conditions. The new spirit matures in sherry and bourbon casks, and refills are also used. The warehouses are located just outside the town of Bowmore, but there are also a number of warehouses in use around the distillery, some of which are used for maturing whisky. One warehouse has even been converted into a swimming pool for the island's residents. This pool is heated with lost heat from the distillery. The water for production comes from rainwater from the hills, the water flows over the peat-containing soil through a dug channel called "Distillerie Lade". The water for cooling the condensers comes from the tap. Colour: bright gold. Nose: aromas of sea salt, honeycomb and fresh sea breeze. Taste: notes of ripe summer fruit, blood orange and spicy cocoa. In the aftertaste it has notes of sea salt, blackberries and kumquat.
