Beautiful original cover design published in Mickey Mouse 3578
BEWARE OF THE OPPORTUNITY
This lot has particularly collector's features.
Drawing by Corrado Mastantuono.
Cover of Donald Duck issue 3579 in pencil on paper measuring approximately 21x29cm, signed at the bottom right.
The cover features two characters, Donald Duck and Gladstone Gander, in a bunk bed—one is scared while the other sleeps peacefully—beautiful humorous cover in the classic Mickey Mouse style.
The preliminary drawing presents an interesting feature; to convey the concept of fear from this cover, the design shows a series of skulls which were then transformed in the published cover into shapes more similar to Munch's The Scream.
This is a cover of a Disney Drawing Master and beyond, featuring two emblematic characters.
The other peculiarity concerns the album that is sold together with the drawing.
It is a copy of Mickey Mouse 3579 signed by Corrado Mastantuono.
This issue of Topolino features a flip cover; flipping the magazine reveals an important tribute to the story 'Scrooge and the Infinito Dime,' created in a Marvel/Disney collaboration.
In this flip cover, you will find the signature of Paolo Mottura, as Maestro Mottura participated in the Marvel story found in the comic book.
So the lot includes a drawing, the corresponding Mickey Mouse comic book, and two signatures.
Corrado Mastantuono
It was born on a cold morning in 1962.
In 1980 he graduated from the National Institute for Cinematography and Television as a cartoonist, an activity that trained him professionally and which he carried out until 1989.
During this period he met Giovan Battista Carpi, who introduced him to the great world of Disney and asked him to draw for Mickey Mouse.
In 1990 he made his debut in Topolino n. 1805 and his collaboration with Walt Disney took him to the pages of “Minni & company”, “Giovani Marmotte”, “PK”, “MM”.
In 1997, in the story “Donald Duck and the Knowledge Machine” (Topolino n.2172), the character Bum Bum Ghigno appears for the first time.
Since 1993 he has collaborated with Bonelli on the magazines “Nick Raider”, “Magico Vento” and "Deadwood Dick", both on the stories and the covers, up to the historical magazine Tex in 2007.
He arrived on the French market in 2004 with “Elias le maudit” for the publishing house Humanoïdes Associés.
Among the awards conferred were the prestigious Topolino d'Oro in 1996, the Yellow Kid in 2001 and the Gran Guinigi in 2002.
