Imprimé par Nicolas Schouten, actif à Cologne au XVIIe siècle et connu pour ses publications à caractère controversé ou clandestin. Mise en page sobre mais élégante : typographie romaine, fleurons, lettrines et grandes marges. Rare original edition of this controversial treatise against the system of ecclesiastical commendations, attributed to Dom François Delfau, a Benedictine monk of the Congregation of Saint-Maur. Published under the pseudonym Des-Bois Franc, this bold text led to the author's exclusion from religious circles.

Printed by Nicolas Schouten, active in Cologne in the 17th century and known for his publications of a controversial or clandestine nature. Simple yet elegant layout: Roman typography, floral ornaments, initials, and large margins.
