2021 Casa Castillo, Pie Franco - Jumilla - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

The 2021 of Pie Franco has a 99/100 Parker score '' We are witnessing the first wine in the history of Jumilla to achieve the coveted 100 Parker points, obtained in its previous vintage. It originates from a single plot (La Solana) where there is an old Monastrell vineyard on its own roots planted in 1941. It is a Mediterranean red, complex, with very controlled power and a pleasant combination of balsamic freshness and spicy notes. A creation from the team led by José María Vicente that embodies pure balance. OPINION DE LOC CRITICOS The Wine Advocate: The 2021 Pie Franco is from ungrafted old-vine Monastrell planted on sandy soils. It feels incredibly balanced, elegant and harmonious, a little closed, subtle rather than showy. It's slightly riper, like most of the 2021s, reaching 15% alcohol, very Mediterranean, classical with fruit a tad darker than the one in Las Gravas and with a rounder palate but keeping the poise and balance. It matured in oak foudre for a longer time, as they found this to be a more powerful wine that required a longer élevage in oak. Another stunning Pie Franco. 8,297 numbered bottles. It was bottled in June 2023.
