The 2004 Château Margaux remains a very youthful wine, unfurling in the decanter and glass with a deep bouquet of blackcurrants, cigar wrapper, black truffles, loamy soil and nicely integrated new oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a rich and vibrant core of fruit, lively acids and refined but authoritative tannins, it's a rather powerful, elegantly muscular Margaux that's still a decade from maturity. Tasting note: (2004 vintage) "Medium to deep ruby-red color. The aromas are of lifted violets over red-fruit & clean vanilla oak. The palate is beautifully balanced with violets & redcurrants combining seamlessly with cedar & vanilla from well-handled oak. The wine is not highly concentrated & although it lasts well the finish could perhaps be longer. Alcohol is balanced & the finish is smooth-textured & harmonious.
