Deze zeldzame en bijzondere schaakset is in beperkte oplage geproduceerd in 1984 en was uitsluitend verkrijgbaar na intekening. De schaakset is door het Waterloo museum officieel gekenmerkt als authentiek.
Het schaakspel bestaat uit 32 authentieke schaakstukken van de hoofdrolspelers uit de beroemde Slag van Waterloo (o.a. Napoleon en Wellington). De schaakstukken zijn ontworpen door militair kunstenaar Philip J Haythornthwaite en door Franklin Mint vakkundig in tin gegoten. De voet van de schaakstukken bestaat uit koper en emaille.

This rare and special chess set was produced in a limited edition in 1984 and was only available for pre-order. The chess set has been officially marked as authentic by the Waterloo museum.
The chess set consists of 32 authentic chess pieces representing the main figures from the famous Battle of Waterloo (including Napoleon and Wellington). The pieces were designed by military artist Philip J Haythornthwaite and expertly cast in pewter by Franklin Mint. The base of the chess pieces is made of copper and enamel.
