Ethnic drum - unknown - Tablas - Number of items: 1
Pair of drums whose original name is Tabla, with its original case.
The Tabla is a percussion instrument originating from the Indian subcontinent (India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh), consisting of a pair of small drums, one usually made of wood and the other of metal or clay, on which a leather membrane is stretched using leather straps. The tension of the membrane can be adjusted using small cylinders or wooden blocks placed between the shell and the straps.
The leather membrane is equipped in the center with a circle of black dough, thanks to which it is possible to influence its intonation and generate characteristic tones. The tabla is used in Indian music, both classical and popular and religious, but also in modern Western music of ethnic coloration.
