This is a quintessential example of mid-century horological design, the highly sought-after Tudor Oyster "Big Rose" Reference 7934. Renowned for its prominent and beautifully applied floral logo, this timepiece perfectly encapsulates the golden era of Tudor, benefiting directly from the robust engineering of its parent company, Rolex. Housed in the legendary waterproof Oyster case and featuring a strikingly patinated dial, this manual-winding classic offers collectors a chance to own a truly unique and character-rich piece of Tudor history.

Dial and Hands
The dial of this Tudor Oyster is a captivating study in vintage aging, defined by its spectacular applied "Big Rose" emblem situated prominently at the twelve o'clock position. The original silvered base has developed a heavy, uniform stardust patina over the decades. This dense proliferation of micro-spotting covers the entire surface evenly, transforming the dial into a highly textured, organic canvas that speaks to the watch's long history. The typography, including the serif "TUDOR OYSTER" and "SHOCK-RESISTING" text, remains fully legible beneath the patina. The applied silver faceted dart hour markers show age-consistent oxidation, perfectly complementing the dial's aesthetic. Time is indicated by a set of classic dauphine hands, which exhibit corresponding dark oxidation and surface aging, maintaining absolute visual harmony with the rest of the dial furniture.

Case and Crystal
The 34mm stainless steel Oyster case retains its classic proportions and robust architecture. The lug profile remains well-defined, showing honest signs of wear, light surface scratches, and handling marks consistent with a watch of this vintage. The smooth, polished bezel transitions cleanly to the brushed upper lug surfaces. A key historical feature is the original Rolex-signed screw-down crown, proudly displaying the iconic coronet above a single underline. The screw-down caseback features the crisp external engraving "ORIGINAL OYSTER CASE BY ROLEX GENEVA," framing the Rolex coronet. Inside, the caseback is properly stamped with Montres Tudor S.A. signatures and the 7934 reference number. The watch is fitted with a domed acrylic crystal that presents clearly, allowing an unobstructed view of the patinated dial beneath.

Movement
Powering this timepiece is a robust Tudor-signed manual-winding caliber, beautifully finished in a rich copper tone. The movement is cleanly stamped with "TUDOR" and "17 RUBIES" on the main bridge, alongside "SWISS MADE" near the balance. The visual condition of the movement is remarkably clean, with the brushed gears and polished screw heads presenting exceptionally well. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher results indicate an impressive -7 to -9 seconds per day with strong amplitude.

Strap
The watch is paired with a period-correct brown leather strap featuring contrasting white edge stitching. The strap provides a comfortable fit and complements the warm, earthy tones of the dial's stardust patina perfectly.

Condition
This timepiece is presented in good vintage condition. The case shows normal, honest wear with superficial scratches but retains its fundamental structural integrity and classic Oyster silhouette. The dial is the defining feature of this watch's condition, showcasing a heavy, ubiquitous spotting and stardust patina. While this represents significant environmental aging, it is remarkably even and highly prized by collectors who favor watches with dramatic, one-of-a-kind vintage character. The hands and indices show matching oxidation, confirming the originality and cohesive aging of the piece.

Dimensions
The case measures 34 mm in diameter, excluding the crown. The lug-to-lug measurement provides a balanced and classic presence on the wrist, typical of vintage Oyster cases from this era.

Remarks
The Tudor "Big Rose" is an absolute icon of vintage watch collecting. The oversized applied rose logo was only used for a specific period before Tudor transitioned to the shield emblem, making these references highly desirable. The dramatic stardust patina on this specific example ensures that no two watches will ever look quite like this one, offering a deeply personal and storied aesthetic.

History
Founded by Hans Wilsdorf, Tudor was created to offer the precision and reliability of a Rolex at a more accessible price point. The brand achieved this by utilizing third-party Swiss movements housed within the legendary Rolex Oyster cases. The Tudor Rose logo, a nod to the Tudor dynasty of England, went through several iterations before culminating in the "Big Rose" seen on this reference, which remains the most beloved and recognizable symbol of the brand's mid-century output.
