Angels' Queen: Ritual and Abstraction
This piece marks a turning point in the auction. Here, Margot Laffon steps away from the literal nature of words and logos to embrace the language of pure color and gestural abstraction.

Deconstructing the Icon: Unlike previous pieces where the narrative relied on onomatopoeia and text, Laffon lets the brushstrokes do the talking here. The face—technically flawless and serenely beautiful—becomes a chromatic battlefield. The splashes of blue, red, and yellow across the cheeks and forehead aren't random; they act as "war paint" or ritual markings that blur the subject's identity, transforming her into a universal archetype.

Key Elements: The Schematic Crown: Atop the figure sits a minimalist tiara traced in white and gold. This crown, with its almost primitive or "outsider art" feel, contrasts with the sophistication of the face, granting the figure a status of spiritual nobility or "street royalty."

Geometric Patterns: The figure’s torso is composed of a repetitive pattern of golden waves against a dark background. This detail adds a Byzantine or Art Nouveau quality, elevating the figure to an almost sacred dimension.

Saturated Backdrop: The use of an intensely saturated fuchsia/magenta background—applied with a palette knife in a gestural style—creates a vibrant contrast that pushes the face toward the viewer, resulting in an almost hypnotic sense of depth.

Collector’s Note: This is arguably the most mature work in the selection so far. By stripping away the text, Laffon forces the observer to connect emotionally with the protagonist’s piercing green eyes and the physical texture of the paint. It’s a piece that showcases the artist's incredible versatility, proving she can master both message-heavy street art and high-concept abstraction.

About Margot Laffon:

Margot Laffon is a contemporary artist of French origin living in Spain (Seville).
Her studies in the Fine Arts made her travel through different pictorial styles.
She currently creates art inspired by bullfighting, pop art and urban art. Her peculiar technique, defined lines and colorful gouache made with ink and watercolor manage to transmit strength and feeling through the gaze of her models. Her original works are distributed in prestigious private collections around the world.
The increasing value of her works, with a unique and personal style, makes him highly valued among art collectors and investors.
