It was born as a child of cooperation of the Distilia and Catawiki, which years of expertise resulted in a true masterpiece sealed in a bottle. The Lignum Vitae means "wood of life” in Latin. In our opinion it perfectly fits the marvellous Aqua Vitae "water of life" - from Jamaica. This plant is extremely ornamental with its attractive blue flowers and orange-yellow fruits, which are well known for their medicinal properties. Moreover, the wood of the Lignum Vitae was once used as propeller shaft bearings in nearly all the ships in the world. Jamaica has always been closely associated with shipyards so the Lignum Vitae is an extremely important plant for Jamaicans. It has such big value for the citizens of the island, that the flower was chosen to become the national symbol of the country.
