Quinta de La Rosa Tonel 12 10 Years Old Tawny Port 4 x 0.50L 4 Bottles Port Wine DESCRIPTION In 1815, Dietrich Feueheerd arrives in Porto from Hamburg where his uncle was Mayor and surrendered the city to Napoleon. He lives with his family in Porto/Aveiro and starts trading in minerals and ports. In 1906, Quinta de la Rosa is bought for Claire (Sophia’s grandmother) by her English grandmother as a christening present. In 1935, the port shipping company, Feueheerd Bros, is sold to the Barros Family. Thankfully, La Rosa remains in family hands as it was Claire’s personal property. Grapes are sold to Sandeman and others. Tim Bergqvist, together with his daughter, Sophia, relaunches Quinta de la Rosa in 1988. La Rosa starts making port under its own label again and soon after is one of the first Quintas to produce wine. In 2005, Tim fulfils ambition of owning a Quinta in the Douro Superior by buying Quinta das Bandeiras. The Passagem brand is launched. WINEMAKER: Jorge Moreira. Each year a small number of top-quality wines are specially chosen and set aside to be aged in old 550l oak pipes for an average of 10 years before being blended and bottled. TASTING NOTES As with all of our ports the 10 Year Old Tawny is fermented slightly longer to guarantee a dry finish and we work hard to ensure that the brandy is well incorporated. Expect notes of powerful dried fruit, including apricot and figs, along with honey, almonds and orange peel. SERVING Quinta de La Rosa Porto Tawny 10 Years Old is delicious served slightly chilled on its own and a surprising accompaniment to mince pies at Christmas and Orange and chocolate tart. Serve between 12ºC-16ºC.
