1993 Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia - Super Tuscans - 1 Botella (0,75 L)
A bottle from my cellar, bought by my father-in-law in the 90s and stored there at 13 degrees Celsius.
The 1993 Sassicaia from Tenuta San Guido is a discreet and elegant wine, characterized by notes of ripe black fruit, tobacco, and leather. From a challenging vintage, it has a firm structure with high tannins and good acidity.
Tasting Notes and Characteristics
The 1993 Sassicaia is considered a wine that is both powerful and incredibly refined, with the distinction of being enjoyable now while still possessing excellent aging potential.
Aromas: Appealing aromas of blackcurrant, tobacco, and wild herbs, with mineral notes of crushed granite and seashells. Balsamic notes of eucalyptus and damp earth are also present.
Palate: Medium-bodied with high but well-integrated tannins and pleasant acidity that lends it freshness and longevity. The finish is long and elegant.
Color: A deep, vivid ruby/garnet color of medium intensity.
Composition: Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with a small proportion of Cabernet Franc.
Expert Opinions: The 1993 vintage is not generally considered one of Sassicaia's great vintages, due to a rainy growing season that prevented polyphenols from fully developing. However, it is praised for its elegance and balance.
Robert Parker: 87 points. Describes the wine as edgy and taut, with an introspective personality.
