Japanese Studio Pottery Vases – Matching Pair – Showa Period – Impressed Maker’s Seal Pair of hand-crafted Japanese studio pottery vases dating to the Showa period (20th century). Both vases are formed in coarse stoneware with a natural, wabi-sabi aesthetic, showing intentional surface texture and restrained decoration. The pair consists of two complementary finishes: one light, ash-toned surface and one darker, iron-rich surface. Each vase bears the same impressed maker’s seal on the base, indicating atelier production rather than mass manufacture. These vases exemplify Japanese studio ceramics inspired by regional traditions such as Shigaraki or Iga, where natural clay, reduction firing, and subtle surface effects are central to the aesthetic. Sold as a matching pair. Specifications • Origin: Japan • Period: Showa period (20th century) • Material: Stoneware • Technique: Hand-formed, reduction fired • Height: approx. 13 cm • Diameter: approx. 10 cm • Weight: approx. 800 g per vase • Condition: Very good vintage condition, minor natural firing marks consistent with studio pottery • Quantity: 2 vases (sold as a pair) SHIPPING AND CUSTOMS The lot will be carefully packed using professional protective materials suitable for fragile ceramics.
