Eket-Okobo - Nigeria

The round-faced masks of the Ibibio have been classifiedas as Eket. However, according to currently available data, the distribution area of this Ibibio sub-style extends eastward into Oron territory. They have been referred to as "an Okobo sub-style: small, round, chubby faces set on an approximately circular panel." The Okobo region is located north of the Oron region and is a distinct tribe. It is still unknown whether this mask belongs to the Ekong institution (game of entertainment) or to Ekpo (ancestor worship).
