Dominican red amber is a type of amber with a rare, light coloration. It is found primarily in the amber mines of the mountains near Santiago, Dominican Republic. Commonly called red-shelled amber, it acquires its color because it is the first amber mined, the one closest to the surface, which heats the earth the most.
