Baule figure - Costa de Marfil

Spirit figure of fleshy style standing with short thick legs having angular calves, pointed buttocks, arms are held slightly away from sides, neck is long with scarification, and a Guro influence appears in the crescent moon on the forehead. Hairline crack on side of chest and back, surface wear, waxed surface. Burnished brown patina with blackened areas. Custom base. The "spirit spouse" is a physical embodiment of an "otherworld spouse" which the Baule believe all adults have.
