This pair of small silver trays, crafted around the mid-20th century, is an eloquent example of the Neo-Baroque style applied to cabinet decorative arts, a style that aspired to recapture the sumptuousness of 17th-century models through a technique of refined precision. Both pieces are structured around a quadrangular format with curvilinear edges, remarkable for their balance between the sobriety of the precious metal and the exuberance of their engraved ornamentation.
The central body of each tray becomes an exceptional narrative support, where the burin has recreated with exquisite fidelity two genre scenes inspired by the world of David Teniers. In them, the rustic life of the Flemish Baroque is manifested with great dynamism: groups of figures in festive poses, tavern interiors, and rural landscapes that capture the essence of everyday life with microscopic detail. These scenes are executed with a play of lines and chiaroscuro that lends depth to the flat surface of the silver.
Provenance: Private collection, Madrid.
Dimensions: 6 x 5 x 2 cm; Weight: 85.39 g (The pair)
Condition: Good condition.
Shipping: The piece will be professionally packed and shipped. Please note that the shipping costs indicated are estimates; the final amount may vary depending on market rates and specific packaging requirements for shipping both pieces separately.
