This is a magnificent and authentic Bizen-yaki (Bizen ware) Matcha tea bowl crafted by the acclaimed master Tohaku Mimura (三村陶泊) (1929–), a prominent modern Bizen artist who inherited the highest traditions of Japanese pottery.

Lineage & Prestige:
Born in Bizen in 1929, Tohaku Mimura studied directly under the legendary Living National Treasure (人間国宝) Toshu Yamamoto. Combining his master’s flawless throwing techniques with his own deep mastery of wood-firing, Mimura achieved high recognition, winning numerous awards at the prestigious Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibitions and being certified as a Traditional Craftsman.

Artistic Highlights of this Piece:
Exceptional Sangiri & Yohen: The exterior shows stunning "Sangiri" and "Hai-kaburi" effects—dramatic mutations caused by the piece being buried in charcoal and blasted with wood ash during the intense, days-long firing process. It showcases deep charcoal blacks, melting metallic greys, and warm earthy undertones.

Vibrant "Botamochi" Interior: Inside the bowl (Mikomi), a beautifully clear, fiery-red circular fire marking (Botamochi) stands out vividly. This striking contrast provides a breathtaking visual field when bright green matcha is whisked inside, an aesthetic highly sought after by tea masters.

Artist Authenticity: The bottom of the bowl is hand-carved with Tohaku Mimura's registered potter's mark (窯印).

The tea bowl is in pristine, excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. It comes with its original premium wooden box (Tomobako), hand-signed by the artist and stamped with his official seal ("陶泊").
