Descripción del vendedor
Ital ian school (XIX) - The Falconer.
65.5 x 76.5 cm.
Oil on canvas, unframed.
The painting depicts a young falconer shown full-length in an open landscape with softly atmospheric tones. The subject wears a dark cloak and holds a hunting glove on his left arm, while a falcon in flight occupies the upper left corner of the composition. At the figure's feet two hunting dogs are arranged, a tawny greyhound in the foreground and a dark hound to the left, lending the scene a natural vivacity. The compositional scheme and handling of the background landscape are consistent with the tradition of nineteenth-century genre painting, with particular attention to the hunting subject and outdoor setting.
