Agent 007 - Dr. No is a 1962 film directed by Terence Young.
It is the first installment in the series dedicated to British secret agent James Bond. Inspired by Ian Fleming’s 1958 novel Dr. No, it was adapted by Richard Maibaum, Johanna Harwood, and Berkeley Mather and produced by Harry Saltzman and Albert R. Broccoli.
Although it was the first book to be adapted for the screen, Dr. No is not Fleming’s first novel: James Bond first appeared in Casino Royale, published in 1953.
Although made on a low budget, the film proved to be a huge commercial success and the first in a long-running series. Even in this first installment, some of the hallmarks of the 007 films are already present, such as the so-called gunbarrel sequence and the sophisticated stylistic design of the opening credits.
