An outstanding geometric abstract lithograph by the internationally acclaimed Japanese master Kumi Sugai (1919–1996), titled Variation M. This work was published by the Gendai Hanga Center (Contemporary Print Center) in Japan and bears its official blind stamp.

Kumi Sugai was a leading figure in the post-war avant-garde art movement. After relocating to Paris in 1952, he gained international recognition for his distinctive geometric abstractions. His later works are celebrated for their bold compositions, precise forms, and vibrant colors, combining Japanese minimalism with Western modernist aesthetics.
This work is an excellent example of Sugai’s mature style, featuring vivid blue and yellow circular motifs contrasted with dynamic black-and-white linear elements, creating a powerful sense of rhythm and balance.
