Sobre el arte:
La mariposa simboliza transformación, libertad y vulnerabilidad. En la obra de Mariska Karto, este simbolismo no se explica literalmente, sino que se hace sutilmente tangible. Su significado no siempre se puede expresar con palabras, pero se siente de forma intuitiva. Esta es precisamente la fuerza de su trabajo: no explicarlo, sino hacerte sentir.

En su estilo propio y distintivo, rico en poesía y belleza sensual, Mariska Karto captura este estado íntimo de ser. Su trabajo evoca suavidad, quietud y un resplandor tranquilo, invitando al espectador a hacer una pausa, respirar y reconectar con ese frágil momento dorado de descanso.

Perfil corto
Nací en Surinam, Sudamérica, y llevo una rica herencia cultural dentro de mí: surinameña, indonesia, africana y holandesa. Crecí en los Países Bajos, rodeada por el legado de los viejos maestros holandeses, en una tierra donde Vermeer y Rembrandt nunca están lejos de la vista. Un encargo para una marca de perfume me llevó una vez a Venecia. Allí, me conmovió profundamente el arte barroco, la arquitectura y la historia en capas de la ciudad. Esa experiencia agitó algo profundo en mí y se convirtió en una fuente de inspiración duradera que aún da forma a mi visión artística hoy.

Mi proceso creativo está cuidadosamente elaborado y es profundamente multidisciplinario. Construyo mis sets con gran atención al detalle, incorporando mis otras pasiones artísticas: dibujo al carbón, trabajo con oro, textiles y manipulación fotográfica avanzada. Cada pieza que creo reúne todos estos elementos en una expresión cohesiva.
