An exceptional, large-format antique desk companion/standish designed in the historicist Neo-Baroque style with Empire design influences, dating from the late 19th century to the early 20th century (circa 1890-1920).This highly decorative and imposing piece is masterfully cast in heavy solid bronze, featuring a rich, authentic aged patina. The vertical back piece functions as a practical letter rack or card holder, intricately decorated with high-relief details including cherubs (putti), classical acanthus leaf scrolls, and ornate openwork rocaille motifs.The lower base features an integrated pen tray with a beautifully chiseled floral pattern. It is flanked by two large, hinged ink reservoirs.
