Barca Velha is the symbol of the highest quality of Douro wines, since 1952. It's a classic, intense, complex and elegant wine very apreciated in Portugal for his rarity. It's not every year that Casa Ferreirinha does a Barca Velha.
It has to be a special year of quality and quantity to get some BARCA VELHA. Barca Velha is declared only in truly exceptional years (18 in total)
It's the most prestigious winery from portugal with a great vintage. Great bottle for collectors.
Barca Velha 2000 has an intense ruby hue and an exuberant and complex bouquet, with a strong presence of ripe red fruits such as plum and raspberry, and fine spices, namely clove and cinnamon. Balmy aromas can also be detected, as well as those of tobacco and mint, all harmoniously combined with excellent wood quality. On the palate it shows remarkable structure and balance, lovely acidity and firm tannins of superb quality.
