Description
An elegant and beautifully proportioned 2-drawer side table or petite commode, designed in the timeless Louis XV style. This exquisite piece features a distinctively shaped, serpentine front (bombé style) and stands on slender, graceful cabriole legs.
The top is adorned with a thick, beautifully veined grey and white fossiliferous marble slab with an elegantly contoured, ogee-molded edge. The body is clad in a warm, richly grained burl veneer (likely walnut or olive burl), displaying beautiful natural swirls and patterning.
It is lavishly accented with ornate ormolu (gilded bronze) mounts, including decorative corner pieces (chutes), Sabot feet protectors, an apron motif, and elegant asymmetrical drawer handles.
A handwritten vintage label reading "Italie" is attached underneath, suggesting its mid-20th-century Italian craftsmanship inspired by classic French court styles.
