This vintage handcrafted Nambu Tekki cast iron teapot was produced by Seikodo in Iwate Prefecture, Japan.
The body and lid are richly decorated with an intricate raised floral pattern, enhanced by a warm golden-brown finish over the dark cast iron. The textured surface, compact rounded form, acorn-shaped lid knob, and gracefully curved handle give the piece a distinctive traditional Japanese appearance.
The interior has been treated with a rust-resistant coating. It is intended as a teapot for brewing and serving tea by adding separately boiled hot water. It must not be placed over a direct flame or used to boil water.
Purpose: Cast iron teapot for brewing and serving Japanese tea. It also makes an attractive decorative display piece representing traditional Japanese metal craftsmanship.
