Kayqubad I ruled the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum at the height of its power. He expanded Seljuk control across Anatolia, captured the Mediterranean port of Alanya, strengthened fortifications and promoted trade through caravanserais and secure routes. His reign brought political stability, commercial prosperity and major architectural patronage, before growing Mongol pressure began to threaten the sultanate after his death.
